Press, who was the PAC-10 Player of the Year, led the country in goals (26), points (60), and points per game (2.50). Press led Stanford (23-1-2) to the national championship match, where it fell to Notre Dame 1-0 last month in Cary, N.C.

An Academic All-American, Press helped turn Stanford into one of the country's most electrifying teams this season. Her 26 goals tied the Stanford single-season scoring record, set last year by O'Hara. Press also set school career records for goals (71), assists (41) and points (183).

Press beat out finalists Melissa Henderson of Notre Dame and Alex Morgan of Cal in the balloting.
