Tom Kain stands as Duke's all-time scoring leader in men's soccer and was the school's first ever four-time All-America in any sport.
Kain won the 1985 Hermann Award.. He was also the runner-up for the award in 1984.
He led the Blue Devils to a 68-13-7 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances during his career. He was also a member of 1984 United States Olympic soccer team. The four-time All-ACC selection finished his Duke playing career with school records for goals (51), assists (45) and total points (147).
After graduating from Duke, Kain achieved a remarkable first, the first American born player to compete professionally in Germany. He spent one year at Second Division club Union Solingen and then returned to the United States where he played in the MISL for five years.
