The Missouri Athletic Club to Present College Soccer’s Top Award Jan. 3

National Team Star Kelley O’Hara will be the featured guest

ST. LOUIS - - The Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy presented by Worldwide Technology will be awarded to the top male and female collegiate soccer players in the nation on Friday, Jan. 3. The crystal soccer ball trophy represents the highest individual achievement in the sport. Many of the biggest names in American soccer, including Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Claudio Reyna and Alexi Lalas, have won the award.

The finalists for the 2019 men’s MAC Hermann Trophy are Joe Bell (Virginia), Dylan Nealis (Georgetown) and Robbie Robinson (Clemson). The finalists for the women’s award are Jessie Fleming (UCLA), Emily Fox (North Carolina), and Catarina Macario (Stanford). Kelley O’Hara, a standout on the U.S. Women’s National Team and the 2009 winner of the MAC Hermann Trophy, will be the featured guest.

Men’s MAC Hermann Trophy Finalists Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 12, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced on Thursday the men’s finalists for the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, based on voting by NCAA Division I men’s soccer coaches.

The three men’s finalists are Virginia junior midfielder Joe Bell (Wanaka, New Zealand), Georgetown senior defender Dylan Nealis (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Clemson junior forward Robbie Robinson (Camden, S.C.).

Bell was named the ACC Midfielder of the Year and a First Team All-Region selection in helping lead the top-ranked Cavaliers to the College Cup. Nealis is a two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time First Team All-Region selection, his second-ranked Hoyas have also earned a spot in the College Cup. Robinson was the ACC Offensive Player of the Year. He leads the nation in points with 45 and is tied for the national lead with 18 goals.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer, has been awarded annually since 1967. This year’s winners will be announced on Jan. 3, 2020 at the MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.


2019 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy Finalists

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 5, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced on Thursday the women’s finalists for the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, based on voting by NCAA Division I women’s soccer coaches.

The three women’s finalists are UCLA senior midfielder Jessie Fleming (London, Ont., Canada), North Carolina junior defender Emily Fox (Ashburn, Va.) and Stanford junior midfielder Catarina Macario (San Diego, Calif.).

Fleming is a previous Hermann Trophy Finalist (2017), a four-time First Team All-Pac-12 honoree and a veteran of two World Cups with the Canadian National Team. Fox was a First Team All-ACC selection for the second straight season and is a three-time all-conference honoree in her career. Macario was the 2018 Hermann Trophy winner and was named the 2019 Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year after earning Forward of the Year honors her first two seasons. All three of the finalists’ teams will be in action this weekend at the Women’s College Cup in San Jose, Calif.

Most recently, Andrew Gutman (Indiana) and Catarina Macario (Stanford) received the award for outstanding intercollegiate performances last year.

Three finalists will be named for the award on Friday, Dec. 13 in conjunction with the Men’s College Cup in Cary, N.C. The 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 3, 2020 to formally announce this year’s winners.

The three women’s finalists will be announced this Friday, Dec. 6.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 1, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club announced today the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year’s winners will be announced in January 2020 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Six semifinalists from a year ago lead a group of 36 players on the men's watch list. The returning semifinalists are Michigan State senior Giuseppe Barone, Stanford senior Tanner Beason, Michigan senior Jack Hallahan, UCF senior Cal Jennings, Wake Forest senior Bruno Lapa and Duke senior Daniele Proch. Sixteen of the 36 players on the watch list were United Soccer Coaches All-Americans last year.

A total of 61 players are included on the Women's Watch List, headlined by 2018 Hermann Trophy Winner Catarina Macario of Stanford. Macario will be a junior this season. 2017 finalist Jessie Fleming of UCLA and five semifinalists from 2018 are also on the watch list; Penn State junior Samantha Coffey, Santa Clara senior Kelcie Hedge, Penn State senior Kaleigh Riehl, North Carolina junior Alessia Russo, UCLA junior Ashley Sanchez, and Texas A&M senior Ally Watt. Twenty-nine of the players on the list were All-Americans a season ago.

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men’s and women’s MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.
